Kariesbehandlung / Füllungen

The famous “hole in the tooth” is the most common reason for a visit to the dentist.

We can treat it with different materials and ensure that your teeth are free of caries again. When choosing the material, it is important how deep the caries has spread and how large the defect is. Of course, aesthetic and sometimes financial considerations also play a role.

Plastic fillings:

They are very high quality, optimally matched to the tooth color and last a very long time. However, statutory health insurance only covers part of the costs, so you will have to pay an additional fee.

Compomer fillings:

They are tooth-colored, but not as high quality as the plastic fillings. With us they are free of charge.

Amalgam fillings:

They are silver in color and are fully covered by statutory health insurance. Even very large defects can be repaired. The use of the material is controversial due to the mercury it contains, although there is a lack of scientific evidence of health damage caused by amalgam. Pregnant and breastfeeding women and children under 15 receive alternative dental fillings.

Inlays:

If the defect is very large or is not limited to the chewing surface, the tooth can be treated with a gold or ceramic inlay. Inlays are made in the laboratory and, like plastic fillings, an additional payment is required.
